Hemophilia in the Days of AIDS

Dirk Scheerhorn

Although interest in acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) among social scientists has flourished in recent years, this interest has not yet extended to the hemophiliac population. This essay attempts to alleviate some of that neglect by discussing stigmatization as it relates to hemophilia since the onset of AIDS. It is argued that "associated stigmas" have created unique communicative tensions among the hemophiliac population.
